 CHAPTER COORDINATOR Greta Williams Sutherland
Born and raised in Missouri, Greta has a lifelong connection to Kansas City. She has worked in administration, marketing, liaison organization, public relations and retail management roles for over 25 years in the metropolitan area.
"I am very excited to work for the USGBC-Central Plains chapter. I am amazed at the level of energy and commitment by the volunteers of this chapter. Their work on the various committees as well as the Board and Core Committee positions make this a strong organization and a leader in sustainability in the Kansas City area. The joint advocacy for sustainable design makes for a synergy that cannot be equaled. Personally, it is satisfying to be giving the majority of each of my days to a cause in which I strongly believe. I appreciate the opportunity to partner with this incredible group of industry volunteers to bring about important and long-lasting change to our Greater Kansas City region."
Greta has worked for the Central Plains chapter since 2008, assisting in grant writing, strategic planning, sponsorship development, meeting facilitation, membership data organization as well as acting as a committee liaison between the chapter’s various committees. Greta is the link between our Board to the committees – the committees to each other – and our membership connection to the committees. As Chapter Coordinator, she is in constant communication with our national organization in Washington D.C.
Greta is married to Scott Sutherland, a 20-year veteran train conductor for Union Pacific Railroad. Together they have five incredible children and enjoy their home in Independence, Missouri.
