2010 Board of Directors
Stephanie believes in “being the change you want to see in the world.” As Senior Sustainability Specialist at Burns & McDonnell, Stephanie leads the efforts of the sustainability group to incorporate sustainable design into all projects, provide sustainability education and training for other employee/owners, and participates in the greening of the company’s headquarters campus project. Prior to joining Burns & McDonnell in summer of 2009, she was the Sustainability Coordinator for Populous, formerly HOK Sport Venue Event, and a Senior Interior Project Manager for HNTB Architecture for over 25 years. As adjunct faculty at The University of Kansas in Lawrence from 1998-2000, Stephanie integrated sustainable design principles into the studio curriculum for second and fourth year students. Stephanie has served on the USGBC Heartland Regional Council, Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Environment Committee and on the Advisory Group to KU’s Interior Design Program and currently serves on the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) Sustainability Committee. She has held a number of chapter officer and committee chair positions, has been on the Board of Directors for the USGBC Central Plains Chapter for the past six years and looks forward to a Greener State of Kansas and Kansas City area.
Jenny is currently the Manager of Sustainable Construction at JE Dunn. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2000 with a degree in Interior Design, and worked in the Design Industry for 5 years before moving to the Construction Industry in 2005. Jenny works with project teams to develop strategies for implementing sustainable construction and operations practices. She also participates with the design team at all stages of development, collaborating to ensure that the full range of sustainable issues have been addressed. Jenny has been involved with the Greater Kansas City Chapter for three years. She has served on the Membership and Outreach and Advocacy committees, while volunteering as both Gala Committee Chair and Programs Committee Co-Chair.
Travis is an Architectural Designer with sfs architecture. He graduated with a BArch from the University of Kansas and is also a LEED® Accredited Professional. Travis has volunteered on the Communications Committee for the past two years and is the current Committee Chair. In addition to his service with the USGBC, Travis is also active with the AIA representing the Kansas City Chapter as Associate Director on the AIA Missouri Board of Directors, serving on the Design Awards Committee, and most recently being nominated for Associate Director for the AIA Kansas City Board of Directors. He also speaks on sustainable design topics and remains passionately committed to advancing the sustainable design of our community.
DIRECTOR AT LARGE Jean is a project manager at the U.S. General Services Administration in Kansas City, where she oversees federal projects in a four-state region. She has served as the GSA Region 6 sustainability representative, guiding several projects through the LEED™ certification process and helping them to win national environmental awards. She previously worked at BNIM Architects as a associate architect and sustainability consultant. Jean is a charter member of the Central Plains chapter and previously served on the communications committee. She also held a director's seat on the AIA Missouri board, working to introduce green building language into legislation in Missouri. She served as chair of the AIA Kansas City Committee on the Environment in 2006-2007 and participated in a construction waste management forum in 2005 that lead to an online recycling database. Jean holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas. She is a LEED Accredited Professional with O+M and BD&G certifications.
Lawrence is a Sustainable Building Consultant with Viridian Energy & Environmental. He received his BS in civil engineering from the University of Kansas in 2008, additionally studying automotive engineering on the side. In his year and a half of experience Lawrence has had the privilege of working on 17 and counting LEED projects, some of which are the nation’s largest sustainable undertakings. Lawrence is also the chair of the Emerging Green Builders committee and has worked on the committee for two years. He has recognized that one of the biggest hurdles for the green building industry is an understanding of sustainable goals across the disciplines of a project team and hopes to aid team’s goals by continuing work as an interdisciplinary consultant.
