This presentation by Kevin Hannigan, Director of Architectural Interiors at Haworth, explores the design and business benefits of modular interior construction. It demonstrates how re-manufactured and pre-engineered architectural, technological and products made with mass customization, can create a unique corporate environment that is a performing business asset. It emphasizes the value of good design which equals good business for clients. It discusses methods of using workspace interiors to create an aesthetic that continually adapts to a client’s needs. It shows facilities managers how adaptable workspaces can help organize work environments efficiently and inexpensively once they are in a space.

Participants will develop an understanding of how workspaces can be planned and designed to create a flexible and sustainable solution.

Objectives: At the completion of this course participants will have developed an understanding of the following:

Explore the ways pre-engineered and adaptable workspace interiors can offer clients continually performing business assets.

The future of building construction, structural steel, and sustainability all truly do go hand-in-hand. Attendees will understand where the building construction industry is in its process of embracing and adopting sustainable principals and measures and where the industry is heading in terms of environmental stewardship and life cycle assessment. Participants will also learn about the sustainable attributes of structural steel - such as its cradle-to-cradle manufacturing and recucling process, minimal water usage and reduced construction waste - and how the structural steel industry is moving forward in its process of continual improvement in terms of reduced energy reduction and carbon footprint and its overall environmental stewardship. You will understand how sustainable design is a trend that is consistent with the principles of integrated project delivery in general and building information modeling in particular and that a convergence of these three trends leads supports the overall sustainable goals of a building project.

Objectives: At the completion of this course participants will have developed an understanding of the following:

Understand where the building construction industry is in its process of embracing and adopting sustainable principals and measures
Understand where the industry is heading in terms of environmental stewardship and life cycle assessment.
Learn about the sustainable attributes of structural steel
